Cherries boss lauds the Scottish international following stunning 4-3 comeback win over Liverpool.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe hailed the impact substitute Ryan Fraser made during his side’s stunning 4-3 Premier League comeback win over Liverpool at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.
The Cherries boss told SkySports he was delighted for the Scot after his hard work in training and praised the winger’s outstanding talent.
Having trailed 3-1 to goals from Sadio Mane, Divock Origi and Emre Can with less than a quarter of an hour to go, the hosts pulled off a sensational comeback with Nathan Ake’s stoppage time effort capping a famous first Premier League win over the Reds for Bournemouth.
Fraser came off the bench for the stricken Junior Stanislas shortly before the hour mark, but few could have expected the impact the 22-year-old would make on proceedings.
After earning a penalty within a minute of his appearance, the winger then scored his first goal for the club to reduce the deficit for the hosts before late drama at Dean Court, including assisting Steve Cook’s equaliser.
His manager however was in no doubt as to Fraser’s ability.
Howe said: “I believe Ryan’s an outstanding talent. He’s been training very well for a number of weeks, he’s deserved the opportunity he got today.
“The pleasing thing for me is he’s come on and taken it. He looked razor sharp, he’s had a big impact on the game and I’m delighted for him.”
Having suffered an injury ravaged past few seasons, the Scottish international showed the world his burgeoning talent, that has as of yet only been seen in rare glimpses.
After moving from home city club Aberdeen in 2013 for £400,000, as reported by STV, Ryan Fraser was a regular for Eddie Howe’s men as the Cherries earned promotion to the top flight in 2015.
Fraser signed a new contract with the club before being loaned out to Ipswich Town for the following season, together with out-of-contract Brett Pitman.
The winger made an immediate impact for the Tractor Boys, scoring six goals during the campaign. However his contribution was curtailed once more due to injury.
Returning to the South coast this term the Scottish international had made just five appearances this season before his heroics on Sunday.
On the inspiring comeback versus Jurgen Klopp’s men, manager Howe also spoke of the spirit in the team that was vital in their promotion two seasons ago.
“We’ve still got the spirit we had when we won the Championship”, Howe told SkySports.
“That year the team spirit and togetherness was first class. At all costs we wanted to protect that when we got into the Premier League and I think today shows we’ve still got it.”
