The Gunners forward has been in red-hot form in North London this term.

Arsenal star Alexis Sánchez says his learning of the English language has helped him improve as both a person and a player on the pitch in North London this season.

The Gunners forward told the club’s official website, the native tongue has made him grow as an individual and understand his surroundings as he embraces Premier League culture.

The Chilean scored his 12th league goal of the campaign versus Everton on Tuesday night, but could not help his side prevent just a second league defeat this term.

Despite the loss, Sanchez is clearly flourishing in his N5 environment. The number seven explains how as he has learnt the lingo and the general culture around him, the winger cum striker has become more at ease in England.

Sanchez told arsenal.com: “At the beginning I took lessons for two hours a day.”Then I had to make use of what I learnt so I could communicate with my team-mates and the manager. I truly like the English language. Learning it helps me grow as an individual.”

“My team-mates in general have helped me a lot. I have also learnt English in some other contexts, such as having a stroll in the street.”

Since Alexis Sanchez was converted into Arsenal’s main striker, the former Udinese and FC Barcelona winger has scored 14 goals in all competitions this term.

The Chilean is now just four off his league scoring record of 16 during his debut 2014/15 campaign – netting 25 in total.

The player who celebrates his 28th birthday next Monday, will be hoping to gift manager Arsene Wenger three points the day before against Manchester City on Sunday.

Sanchez now in his third season in North London, says he is now enjoying people approach him in public and is learning to listen and understand more.

“People approach me, talk to me in English”, the forward states. “My listening and my conversational English are improving a lot thanks to people.”

“A few days ago I did a live interview in English for the first time in my life. I found it a bit difficult, but at the same time I felt comfortable too. I must keep on learning the language so I can develop as a person.”
