New Tottenham signing Georges-Kevin Nkoudou has taken to Twitter to say goodbye to Marseille – and Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi has sent him a message too.

Spurs were looking for pace out wide, and they got just that as 21-year-old winger Nkoudou has finally joined the club on deadline day after a lengthy transfer saga with Marseille.

The French wide man hit nine goals and five assists last season in an impressive campaign for Marseille, but he’s left the club just over a year after joining from Nantes.

Nkoudou will now look to make an impact at White Hart Lane, and offers Mauricio Pochettino another option out wide following Nacer Chadli’s switch to West Bromwich Albion earlier this week.

Whilst Nkoudou will be looking to make his Spurs debut against Stoke City after the international break, he’s also taken time to thank his former club Marseille on Twitter.

On deadline day, Nkoudou sent messages to Marseille fans stating that he will never forget some of best moments with the club, or the ‘unrivalled passion’ of the Marseille supporters, and vowed to support the club even when he’s at White Lane.

Here is a translation of the tweets above, as well as Nkoudou’s reaction to finally signing for Tottenham on Wednesday…

“It is true that it lasted only 1 year, but I will not forget some of the moments spent at the club, and the unrivalled passion of the fans,” wrote Nkoudou. “Thank you all for your good luck messages for my future, and your support since I arrived at the club. I wish you the best, and i hope to see OM in major European competitions. I will stay #TeamOM, that will not change!” he added.

After Nkoudou’s deal was confirmed, the winger received a message from former Marseille team-mate Michy Batshuayi, who also completed a move to England this summer by joining Chelsea.

The Belgian striker joked that whilst they were friends at Marseille, they are now enemies in London – and given the recent spats between the two clubs, they almost certainly will be fierce rivals on the pitch this season and beyond.
