The Tottenham Hotspur winger has been in fine form over the summer but later this month is when it really counts.
It is fair to say that Tottenham Hotspur winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou did not have the best debut campaign at White Hart Lane.
After Spurs fought long and hard to get the Frenchman to North London, he struggled to make any significant impact and looked woefully out of his depth on his one and only start against Liverpool in the EFL Cup.
As a consequence he was quickly written off by a section of Tottenham fans, only to prove many wrong with his pre-season performances over the last month.
After putting Dani Alves to the sword in Tottenham’s impressive victory against Paris Saint-Germain, N’Koudou was one of the few bright sparks as his side lost 3-0 to Manchester City at the weekend.
Coming on for the last 35 minutes against the Blues, N’Koudou did his best to change the match and he did not look out of place against City’s famous faces.
The question is, can the 22-year-old continue that form when it really matters, with Tottenham less than two weeks away from kicking off their new Premier League campaign?
While Tottenham fans have been crying out for a new winger and a new striker this summer, N’Koudou’s emergence could at least quell the need for the former, with the Frenchman potentially benefiting from Heung-min Son’s injury absence.
Performing when the pressure is off, albeit against top class opponents, is one thing, while delivering the same blistering performances in a competitive arena is quite another.
N’Koudou has the ability, but does he have the focus and the luck required to prove his remaining doubters wrong?
