Burnley are reportedly set to complete their first signing of the January transfer window by bringing in Tottenham Hotspur winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou on loan.

As reported by L’Equipe, N’Koudou is set to complete his temporary switch to Turf Moor as Burnley look to bolster their wide options.

The 22-year-old has found playing time difficult to come by at Tottenham and will hope that he can perform effectively enough during this loan spell to convince Mauricio Pochettino to give him more opportunities.

There have been some glimpses of the quality that N’Koudou possesses – he scored at home to APOEL Nicosia in the Champions League last month – but he hasn’t been given the chance to prove that he is capable of performing consistently.

Burnley can already call upon Scott Arfield, who has worked hard this season and fits in well with Sean Dyche’s philosophy even though he hasn’t been especially productive in front of goal.

Arfield has scored twice and set up one goal in the Premier League this season but many of his overall performances have been of a high standard and the 29-year-old surely represents a superior option for Burnley than N’Koudou, who is still rather raw.

If N’Koudou does join Burnley then he will most probably find himself as backup to Arfield initially, and it may well be beneficial for Dyche to persist with the latter as his first-choice left-winger initially given the quality that he possesses.
