Eddie Nketiah has admitted he has been left impressed by Gabriel Jesus since the start of the season, with the new Arsenal striker impressing in his first six Premier League games for the Gunners.

Speaking to Amazon Prime, the England U-21 star revealed that he has been left amazed by how quickly the Brazilian international has settled at Arsenal, with Jesus joining the north London side in the summer in a £45m deal from Manchester City, with the attack flourishing in north London.

The 25-year-old has bagged three goals and three assists in the Premier League whilst also being a menace for Arsenal in every fixture, with Jesus impressive against Manchester United despite losing 3-1, with Nketiah coming on to replace the four-time English champion.

Whilst the loss to Old Trafford stung, Arsenal’s season has been an impressive one with Mikel Arteta’s side top of the Premier League after six games, with Jesus’ impact one many fans never would have expected to be as big as it would be, and Nketiah is seemingly thriving off this form.

Indeed, whilst the attacker is yet to score this season, Nketiah has quickly evolved into a fan favourite whenever he has been introduced from the bench, and the attacker could play a huge role this campaign in Arsenal’s quest to finally return to the UEFA Champions League, alongside his new forward teammate Jesus.

Nketiah said when asked about Jesus’ impact since joining Arsenal: “He’s been great. He’s an amazing player and a really good guy off the pitch. He’s gelled into the team really well. For myself, as a striker, it’s good to have a good player to compete against and also to play with.”

Jesus and Nketiah will be crucial for Arsenal’s long-term plans

Jesus was always going to be the main starting striker even with Nketiah signing a new long-term deal with Arsenal this summer, yet that doesn’t mean the attacker won’t play a role for the Gunners in the coming years, with the 22-year-old set to lead the line for Arteta in this week’s UEFA Europa League opener.

Whilst Arsenal look good for top-four, the north London side will want to win Europe’s second most prestigious competition as another avenue to qualify for the Champions League, and Nketiah’s form in this competition will be crucial if the Gunners are to return to the top of the footballing world.
