Nir Bitton has been linked with a move away from Celtic in recent times.

Nir Bitton has batted away suggestions that he wants to leave Celtic, after being asked about his future by the Scottish Herald.

Bitton lost his place in Brendan Rodgers’ starting line-up towards the back end of last season, sparking some rumours that he could leave the Glasgow club this summer.

However, Bitton insists that he is determined to make a success of his career at Celtic, and does not want a move.

“Some people just don’t understand that when you play for Celtic it is a huge club,” Bitton said, when asked about his fuutre.

“Of course everyone wants to play, but it’s one of the biggest clubs in Europe. When you get a chance to play for a club like this you do your very best to stay here.

“You don’t leave this club for every offer that comes along. Of course every player wants to play and it’s not the same when you don’t play. But I will always to my best to help this club.”

Bitton has recently been handed a place in Celtic’s defence, to cover for absences.

The Israeli international impressed on the opening day of the league season, as the Bhoys picked up a 4-1 victory over Hearts.

Celtic’s commanding victory already sends out an ominous message to the rest of the league, who are desperate to end Rodgers’ side’s dominance.

Celtic are next in action in midweek, when they take on Kilmarnock in the Scottish League Cup, as they look to defend their trophy.
