Players from Liverpool, Everton, West Bromwich Albion and Southampton are amongst those to avoid.

With the transfer window in full swing, fans will be starting to put together their Fantasy Football teams for the new season, with many new signings no doubt finding their way into the squads.

But which players should fans avoid? Well, to try and help, HITC Sport has compiled a list of nine players – from the likes of Liverpool, Everton, Southampton and West Brom – that should perhaps be left on the sidelines…

Jay Rodriguez (West Brom)

Jay Rodriguez may have tempted West Brom into a big money deal, but he perhaps has some way to go before he is a reliable Fantasy Football points scorer. Injury and lack of form has meant that he has scored just five league goals in the last three seasons.

Saido Berahino (Stoke City)

Saido Berahino’s career may have looked destined for greatness when he burst onto the scene at West Brom. But the last couple of years have been a nightmare for the striker. Now with Stoke City, he has not scored a top flight goal since February 2016.

Glenn Murray (Brighton and Hove Albion)

In three seasons at the highest level, Brighton striker Glenn Murray has scored a grand total of 11 goals, so it would probably surprise few if the 33-year-old failed to replicate his 14-goal tally from the Seagulls’ Championship promotion-winning campaign last term.

Vincent Kompany (Manchester City)

On his day, Vincent Kompany is a colossus who will go down as one of the Premier League’s best defenders of all-time. Unfortunately, his injury record suggests that he may not play anywhere near often enough to justify an inclusion in the Fantasy Football team.

West Ham United's Robert Snodgrass looks dejectedRobert Snodgrass

Robert Snodgrass (West Ham United)

After a brilliant first-half of the season with Hull City last term, Robert Snodgrass’ form took a dramatic nosedive following his move to West Ham. Two assists in 15 games is hardly the kind of form that will encourage a large portion of fans to select him in their teams.

Charlie Austin (Southampton)

Charlie Austin was a Fantasy Football dream in 2014/15 when he scored 18 times in 35 top flight games for QPR. Unfortunately, since then, injuries have prevented the forward making much of an impression at the highest level. He has scored seven times in a year and a half for Southampton.

Josh King (Bournemouth)

Josh King may have scored 16 times in the Premier League last season, but it must not be overlooked that in the six seasons prior, he scored just 12 league goals in total.

Ross Barkley celebrates scoring the third goal for EvertonRoss Barkley

Ross Barkley (Everton)

With Davy Klaassen and Wayne Rooney arriving, it would not be a surprise if the highly-talented yet incredibly inconsistent Ross Barkley was predominantly left on the sidelines or used very sparingly by Ronald Koeman. His talent would suggest that he may command a large fee on Fantasy Football, and there is no guarantee that he will feature often enough to justify an inclusion.

Adam Lallana (Liverpool)

Adam Lallana’s inclusion on this list may seem very strange with 17 top flight goals and 16 assists coming across his three seasons with Liverpool. But Mohamed Salah’s arrival hints that he may be deployed slightly deeper in future as Jurgen Klopp tries to fit all his stars into his side, which may scupper his chances of having a direct hand in as many goals next season.
