Rangers defender Nikola Katic has spoken about another frustrating performance at Ibrox.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard looks on during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premier League match between Rangers and Dundee at Ibrox Stadium on February 27, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers dropped more points at Ibrox at the weekend as they drew 1-1.

It was a frustrating performance from Steven Gerrard’s side as a defensive mix up once again cost them.

Centre-back Nikola Katic has stepped forward to accept responsibility, even though he suspects others may do the same.

Katic told the Evening Times: “I will take the blame for that goal. Maybe Connor or Andy or Tav might say the same if you ask them, but I will try to learn from that and be better in the future.”

Katic’s comments are positive in that he is not hiding, even if they don’t change the result.

He added that Rangers’ players had a big discussion after the game over the details of the goal.

He said: “We had a big debate about it after the game and spoke to the gaffer about it. Me and Andy stayed too deep and Connor and James stayed too high and their player came behind them and I was too far from him.

“Maybe Allan could have stayed as well. But I think me and Andy needed to stay higher as a line and maybe play him offside.”

Katic’s comments show that he and the Rangers players care, and are looking at themselves and how to improve.

Katic won rave reviews at the start of the season before being surprisingly dropped for Joe Worrall.

He was recalled this weekend and while it might have cost them, it is not always easy for a player to slot straight back in.

Manager Steven Gerrard will have to decide whether to stick with him or go straight back to Worrall for their next fixture, but this will be a valuable learning experience for all concerned.
