Nikola Katic has wished Ross McCrorie ‘good luck’ at his season-long loan spell at Portsmouth as he referred to his Rangers teammate as a ‘goalie’.

Midfielder McCrorie has made a season-long loan switch to English League Two side Portsmouth [BBC Sport], who reached the play-off semi-finals last season.

In regards to Katic referring to his Gers teammate as a ‘goalkeeper’, that stems from the youngster donning the gloves when Allan McGregor was sent off during his sides 1-0 win over Hibernian towards the back end of the last campaign.

The 21-year-old will be hoping he won’t have to do such a thing with his new club as Katic sent this message to the highly-rated man on his personal Instagram account.

It is a big season ahead for McCrorie because if he is successful down in the South Coast then it’ll bode well for his chances of breaking into Steven Gerrard’s first team in the near future.

The Scotland U21 international will be playing for a team that will be pushing for promotion to England’s second tier after they narrowly missed out last season.

During McCrorie’s previous campaign, he played 31 matches in all competitions for Gerrard, mainly as a defensive-minded midfielder, but he did also play a couple of games as a centre-back.

In a division like League One, it is vital that McCrorie nails down a regular place in Portsmouth’s team because if he can perform well then it’ll increase their chances of finishing in the top-six.
