Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers have brought Nikola Katic to Ibrox.

Rangers have signed Katic from Slaven Belupo in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Scottish Sun to be worth £2 million.
The 21-year-old Croatia international central defender had the chance to join Russian club Spartak this summer, with The Daily Record reporting that the youngster’s representative Mladen Kliskinic held talks with Moscow outfit.
Katic has stated that Rangers are a bigger club than Spartak and that he wants to play regularly, comments which will make Ibrox fans very proud and will impress them.

The youngster told The Daily Record: “I didn’t speak with Spartak – just my agent. I didn’t speak with anyone other than the people at Rangers when I arrived in Glasgow.
“Rangers are bigger than Spartak because of all the history and in my opinion Scottish football is better than in Russia and money wasn’t important – I just want to play. The size of the club and Gerrard as a coach were the main factors.”

Making progress
Katic seems to be a mature footballer, as it is clear that he considers playing regularly the most important thing at this stage of his career.
Working with Liverpool legend Gerrard is going to help the Croatia improve his game and progress as a footballer.
It is not going to be easy for the 21-year-old, though, as he will be under pressure to perform right from the start, as the Ibrox faithful are very demanding and have high standards.
