Spurs are in need of a striker and have been linked with Kalinic.
Tottenam Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid striker Nikola Kalinic as they look to bring in a striker before the end of the January transfer window – and the Croatian could have handed Spurs a transfer boost.
Spanish newspaper Marca claim 31-year-old Kalinic is set to leave Atletico after the club signed Alvaro Morata on an 18-month loan spell from Premier League side Chelsea.
The report states that Kalinic – who only joined Atletico for £13million in the summer from AC Milan (Goal) – is set to leave as the Spanish side need to free up space on the wage bill for Morata.
Italian outlet CalcioMercato have now potentially provided Spurs with a major boost, if indeed Tottenham are keen to sign ex-Blackburn Rovers striker Kalinic. They have reported that Kalinic, himself, has rejected a move to Schalke.
Spurs do have options up front. Fernando Llorente has filled in for the injured Harry Kane of late, while Vincent Janssen is looking to regain his fitness at Spurs – though he has been linked with a move to Burnley and Wolves (Mail).
Kalinic has hardly been in the best of form for Diego Simeone’s side this season, managing just four goals in 19 league and cup appearances for Atletico. Now, he has fallen beneath Morata in the pecking order and Spurs could move.
