Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton signed 12 players in the transfer window, and one of them is relishing the chance to face the Bhoys.
Niko Kranjcar has told Rangers’ official YouTube channel that he cannot wait for next week’s Old Firm clash with Celtic at Parkhead.
Both Glasgow giants square off against one another in a league game for the first time since 2012 on Saturday afternoon.
It is a fine opportunity for Rangers to gauge just how close they are to Brendan Rodgers’s side in terms of quality.
Victory would see the Gers leapfrog Celtic – who have played one game less – at the summit of the Premiership by two points.
And Kranjcar, one of 12 summer signings by manager Mark Warburton, says he cannot wait to test himself against the Hoops next weekend.
Asked by Rangers’ official YouTube channel if he was looking forward to it, the 31-year-old Croat responded: “Absolutely. I can’t wait, to be fair.
“We have a week to prepare, to focus and get ready. Even when you’re not in top form, you can still come into that game [Old Firm] and blow it away.”
In theory, Rangers should handle themselves okay against Celtic. They beat the Bhoys – then under Ronny Deila – on penalties in a Scottish Cup semi-final back in April; a game in which Warburton’s side – then in the Championship – led twice.
Of course, Rodgers has strengthened his squad since replacing Deila, but Warburton has significantly bolstered Rangers’ squad and those on the blue half of the Old Firm divide will be confident of leaving Paradise with something.
