Tottenham Hotspur endured one of the worst nights in their history after they were beaten 7-2 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac has admitted that he was ‘surprised’ at Tottenham Hotspur’s collapse and his team scoring seven goals in the Champions League last night.
Kovac also admitted that his goalkeeper Manuel Neuer had a ‘lot to do’ during the game as he tried to dampen what, in the end, was a very dominating scoreline for the German club and humiliating one for Spurs.
Tottenham’s 7-2 defeat in front of their own supporters was without a doubt one of the worst defeats in their history and a result and performance which will hurt them for a while.
Nonetheless, after Serge Gnabry blitzed Tottenham with his four goals in North London, his manager shared some brief thoughts on the game.
On being surprised at Tottenham’s collapse: “Of course, you are somewhat surprised when you score seven goals,” Kovac told Football London. “What has to be said though is that all of our shots made it and in our goal, Neuer had a lot to do.”
Whilst the defeat will be tough to take for Tottenham, their supporters will no doubt be expecting some sort of reaction when they take on Brighton in the Premier League at the weekend.
Spurs are playing the early game on Saturday and three points would see them move back into the Premier League’s top-four, for that time being.
However, a defeat against Brighton could result in Spurs’ week turning into an even more of a nightmare because if they do drop points then they could potentially fall into the bottom half of the table.
