Gary Neville says Tottenham Hotspur defender, Ben Davies, had a ‘nightmare’ moment during Wales’ 3-0 defeat to England at the Qatar World Cup.
Wales went into their final Group B game needing a win to progress through to the knockout stages, as they were goalless going into the break, only to concede straight after the second half to a stunning Marcus Rashford free-kick.
That’s when Gareth Southgate’s side had their tails up and started to press the opposition with more aggression and confidence… and, in Ben Davies’ case, a mistake.

The 29-year-old got caught in possession on the edge of the area, the ball was then fed to his Spurs teammate Harry Kane and he supplied a brilliant low cross to Phil Foden, who slotted home for England’s second, and by then, Wales were packing their bags for a return to the UK.
Former Manchester United defender Neville praised Foden for his ‘aggressive’ nature off the ball and he only had one word to describe Davies’ error, as he told ITV Sports World Cup coverage.
“What I like about Foden is his aggressive position,” said Neville. “The ball is on this side of the pitch (England’s attacking right with Kane).
“He’s tucked in. He’s left Roberts the fullback outside. Obviously, Ben Davies had a nightmare (losing the ball). But Phil Foden deserved that (his goal).”

DAVIES HEADS HOME…KANE IN THE KNOCKOUT STAGES
Leading up to the tournament, Davies has been outstanding for Wales and a big reason why his nation reached its first major World Cup tournament since 1958.
But things didn’t go as planned for the versatile defender out in Qatar and now he will be back to Hotspur Way.
In the meantime, and as expected, Harry Kane will lead England to a Last 16 showdown against the Africa Cup of Nations champions, Senegal, as the Three Lions aim to better their semi-final finish at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
