He played a key role at centre-back in keeping Robert Lewandowski quiet in a 3-0 win over Dortmund.
One week on and he is left reflecting on what might have been.
Rajkovic was stretchered off in Hamburg’s 1-0 loss at Werder Bremen with a serious looking knee injury.
It has since been confirmed as a torn ACL by Bild, and the Serbian will miss the rest of the season and beyond.
Rajkovic was signed by Chelsea at 16-years-old, but never played a competitive game for the club, loaned out to Dutch sides PSV, Twente, and Vitesse.
He was eventually tempted away to Hamburg for £2 million in 2011 but injuries have halted his progression.
Last week he proved his talent is undeniable, but as for luck – he clearly has none.
