According to a report from All Nigeria Soccer, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Josh Onomah is the subject of intense interest from the Nigerian Football Federation.

They are said to have approached the 19-year-old in the hope of convincing him to turn out for the Super Eagles rather than for England.

The Tottenham youngster has played for the Three Lions at every level from under-16 to under-20 and for now he is said to be happy to represent the country of his birth.

However, Nigeria have not given up hope of convincing him to switch allegiance and the NFF, along with the Sports Ministry, are said to need all their powers of persuasion to prompt a change of heart prior to his first senior cap.

Onomah has featured 10 times for Tottenham to date after making his breakthrough last season and adding another two appearances to his tally early in the new campaign.

He may have only been used as a late substitute in the matches against Crystal Palace and Liverpool but he can expect considerably more playing time as the competitions come thick and fast, starting later this month.
