With the first international break of the season coming to an end, Everton fans can reflect on a mixed few days ahead of their Premier League return against West Ham United.

Toffees supporters have seen Jordan Pickford lose for England against Spain on Saturday, Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffer an injury for the England Under-21’s, and defender Seamus Coleman suffer a stress fracture in his foot on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.

Richarlison gave fans something to smile about with a double on his debut for Brazil, whilst Fraser Hornby’s five goals in two games for the Scotland Under-21’s have been impressive too.

Last night, one player who has yet to even make his Everton debut attracted attention, as forward Henry Onyekuru was in action for Nigeria against Liberia.

The former KAS Eupen star, snapped up by Steve Walsh in the summer of 2017, was sent out on loan to Anderlecht last season as he couldn’t earn a work permit to play in England, and the same goes for this season as he plays the campaign on loan with Galatasaray.

Onyekuru, 21, hit 10 goals last term and already has two gaols in four games for Galatasaray, meaning he was handed a start for Nigeria against Liberia on Tuesday night.

The forward responded with his first goal for Nigeria, opening the scoring in a 2-1 victory, and fans have been taking to Twitter to comment on his performance in the win.

Many Nigeria fans hailed Onyekuru, suggesting that he must start ahead of Odion Ighalo in attack moving forward, whilst suggesting that Everton have a gem on their hands, believing that he could even be ‘world class’ one day.

Toffees supporters also offered a few comments on Onyekuru, as many can’t wait to see him in action for Everton whenever he is able to make his debut – but for now, the wait goes on, with one fan even suggesting that the delay has worked well for the youngster, keeping him out of the Premier League spotlight until he has more experience.
