Tottenham’s Danny Rose celebrates scoring their first goal with Harry Kane
Former Arsenal left-back Nigel Winterburn has shared his positive thoughts on Tottenham Hotspur and England defender Danny Rose when talking to Sky Sports News HQ this morning (22/09/16).
Tottenham announced today that Rose had signed a new deal at the club to keep him in North London until the middle of 2021.
The new deal is a reflection of the progress Rose has made since arriving back from a loan spell at Sunderland in 2013.
Winterburn, himself a former left-back for club and country, is certainly a fan of the player.

The former Gunner highlighted the importance of that loan spell and his impressive defensive abilities as key to his current prominence:
“I think he’s been very, very strong.
“Remember as well that not so long ago he was out on loan. He’s come back to Tottenham fitter, athletic – in terms of being quick across the ground.
“Modern full-backs today are almost like wing-backs really. They have to be high and wide early, comfortable on the ball.
“You still need to have a relative degree of defensive work and I think he is one of the stronger ones defensively as well.”
The former Arsenal player makes a very good point regarding Rose’s defending.
Nigel Winterburn – England
There was certainly a time when Rose was looking like he might not cut it at Spurs – with his poor defensive ability his main frailty.
But he has matured massively in this aspect of his game and the 26-year-old is now looking like a top-class left-back who could fill the role for years at Spurs.
