Aston Villa have won just once in the Championship so far this season.

Nigel Winterburn has told Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on 22nd September, that the key for Roberto Di Matteo in turning Aston Villa’s form around will be to keep their confidence up.
Villa have won just one of their opening eight matches in the Championship, and they are struggling to get over the line in matches.
On four occasions the Claret and Blues have let leads slip in the closing stages, and they are stuck in the bottom half of the Championship table.

The pressure is mounting on Di Matteo, and Winterburn feels that the only way that the Italian boss will turn things around is to ensure that his players’ heads do not drop.
“He has to keep the confidence in the team,” Winterburn said, when asked how Villa can turn their form around.
“I’m listening to some of the Villa phone ins, and they are playing to a good level, but they are not used to winning games.

“When you aren’t used to it, you start getting a bit nervous. They have to be confident in what you are doing, and try and get the second goal.”
Villa’s next match looks set to be a tough test of their promotion credentials, as they come up against high flying Newcastle United.
The Magpies have won six of their last seven matches, and will travel to Villa Park full of confidence.
Villa, on the other hand, head into the match on the back of a 0-0 draw with Ipswich Town.
