Derby County have parted company with Nigel Pearson.

Nigel Pearson has told reporters he is disappointed at how things have turned out and insists he has not been the subject of any disciplinary action after leaving Derby County, Sky Sports report.

The former Leicester City manager was suspended by Mel Morris last month following a fall-out with the Derby owner and an investigation began as a result of numerous disciplinary issues (Sky Sports).

Pearson had won only one of his opening nine Championship matches in charge of the Rams and he could arguably have no complaints at losing his position as a result of poor performances.

However, the club made it clear that results were not the cause of Pearson’s suspension, prompting plenty of confusion and debate as his number two Chris Powell took over first-team duties.

Derby and Pearson have since come to a mutual agreement to part company, and the former defender made a swift statement to share his disappointment at leaving the iPro Stadium.

“Although I’m disappointed that my tenure at Derby County has come to an abrupt and premature end, I would like to take the opportunity to thank my colleagues who supported me during my short time at the club,” Pearson said, quoted by Sky Sports.

“I was suspended by the club last week. The speculation in some areas of the media has not made the separation a smooth one, and my suspension period has been difficult for both myself and family.

“I can confirm that I have not been made the subject of any disciplinary action. I leave in the knowledge that I have, together with my closest staff, strived to achieve progress. I would like to wish the club and its supporters success moving forward.”

Derby were in the bottom three at the time of Pearson’s suspension, but four points from back-to-back away games has since seen the East Midlands club climb out of the relegation zone.

The Rams face Leeds United at the iPro on their return to action after the current international break.
