The Derby County boss has celebrated the signing of the Manchester United starlet on a season-long loan.
James Wilson celebrates scoring for Manchester United
Fresh after completing the loan signing of Manchester United striker James Wilson, Derby County boss Nigel Pearson explained why he was so eager to bring in the 20-year-old, in comments appearing on the club website.
Wilson has impressed in appearances for United in the Premier League, and saw plenty of Championship football with last season’s title challengers Brighton, making 27 appearances and scoring five goals.
“He will be a great addition to this squad,” Pearson told the Derby website. “Manchester United are pretty selective in terms of where they choose to send their players to.
“I am delighted he is joining us and he has qualities that will complement what we already have here.

“He has decent pace, can run the channels and his goals record is pretty good as well. All in all he gives something different to us; it is important that we try and get the best out of him.”
Wilson exploded into Manchester United history by scoring twice on his senior debut in one of Ryan Giggs’ four matches as the club’s interim manager, going on to feature significantly in Louis van Gaal’s first season in charge, but went out on loan to the Seagulls in search of regular first team football last season.

The England Under-21 forward will join a frontline which includes ex-England striker Darren Bent, vie-captain Chris Martin and Nick Blackman.
The Rams will be hoping to finally secure promotion after a couple of recent seasons of near misses. Last year they marginally lost out to eventual play-off winners Hull City in the semi-final stage, losing the home leg 3-0 in a desperately disappointing result only to go to the Tigers and nearly turn the tie around, only to fall just short with a 2-0 win.
Pearson has made good use of his relationship with Manchester United, signing a number of Old Trafford starlets while at Leicester City, such as Danny Drinkwater, Ritchie De Laet, Matt James and Tom Lawrence.
