Nigel de Jong has responded to Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk’s post on Instagram.
Liverpool star Van Dijk has posted a clip of him running at the AXA Training Centre.
The Netherlands international central defender has been on the sidelines since October 2020 when he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during the Merseyside derby against Everton.
With the season to end soon, it does not look feasible that the former Celtic centre-back will be back on the pitch in the next few weeks.
However, Van Dijk is progressing well in his recovery and has posted the following clip of him running at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre.
Former Netherlands international defensive midfielder De Jong has responded to the clip, as shown below, and he is clearly pleased for his compatriot, who could perhaps play at the European Championship this summer.

Van Dijk’s Netherlands international teammates Memphis Depay and Tim Krul are also pleased to see the Liverpool star on his way to full recovery.
Van Dijk is one of the best centre-backs in the world, and there is no doubt that Liverpool have badly missed him.
Had the Netherlands international not been injured, then Jurgen Klopp’s side would not be struggling to finish in the Champions League places now.
It will be interesting to see if Van Dijk is called up to the Netherlands national football team for the European Championship this summer.
While Liverpool fans would rather the 29-year-old had a rest during the summer and then returned fresh for next season, the Netherlands could do with him in the squad for the prestigious European competition.
