Chelsea fans will be waking up from the night before and hoping it was all just a bad nightmare.
Just as many thought that Chelsea were making progress on the field of play, the news broke on Tuesday evening that Mauricio Pochettino has departed the club.
One of the players who was brought in during the Argentine’s time at the club was Nicolas Jackson and you could argue that he summed up his team’s season.
They played the pretty stuff, and looked great on the eye, but just couldn’t do the simple stuff and finish off their chances.
Even though Chelsea had their difficult moments, you can’t argue that they didn’t end the season strong and deserve their sixth-placed finish.
Yes, it wasn’t Champions League football, but during their last 15 Premier League matches, only title-winning Manchester City and second-placed Arsenal picked up more points.
Even someone like Jackson couldn’t stop scoring, from February onwards, he scored seven league goals and supplied three assists.
As you can imagine, when the news broke that Pochettino was out of the door, the 22-year-old was devastated, but he wasn’t shy to hide his true feelings via his Instagram story.
Chelsea fans have already had their say on their manager’s exit, even Tottenham supporters were shocked to hear of the news.
But Jackson first posted two emojis of a man facepalming, with an image of Pochettino in the background, as he didn’t hide his feelings about the club’s decision to ‘mutually part ways’ with their summer appointment.
Nicolas Jackson wanted Mauricio Pochettino to stay
“Love you, coach,” wrote Jackson. “Wish we could stay together more. But may God continue to bless you and your family.
“Thanks for the advice and support. You are a true lion and fighter. Wish you all the best.”

When Chelsea were beaten in the League Cup final by Liverpool, a lot was made about the age of Jurgen Klopp’s side and how there were many kids.
Facts proved that the London team had a younger average age. This was a very inexperienced team and one that was growing.

Did they produce a number of questionable performances? Yes. But they were also showing signs that they can take the club forward.
The young guns were improving, and Ian Wright was recently keen to make a point about it all.
Chelsea were certainly going somewhere. Now they need to pick themselves up and go again because you feel they are back to square one.
