Newcastle attempted to sign Nicolai Jorgensen in January.

Newcastle refused to pay Feyenoord’s asking price for Nicolai Jorgensen in January and the striker is yet to prove them wrong.
Jorgensen has struggled to hit the target in 2018 and has scored only seven goals this season, far below his 21 Eredivisie strikes last season.
The Dane drew another blank at the weekend as Feyenoord beat Heracles and his last goal came back on Christmas Eve.

Jorgensen admits it has been difficult with recent speculation but insists he is not going to get too down.
He told Voetball Zone: “I will continue to work for the team, then I am certain that those goals will come again. It is not my best period at Feyenoord. Hopefully it will come soon. I feel better and better. They were hectic months for me.
“You just have periods like this in football. I am not happy with it, but I work hard to do it better. I do not want to shoot myself and know that I can make goals, but I just have to do it again. I will continue to work hard for the team, then it will come naturally.”
But if the Toon were unwilling to pay up for him in January then a deal will be dependent on Feyenoord dropping their asking price, and Jorgensen improving his form.
