The midfielder was released by Rangers boss Mark Warburton at the end of his Ibrox contract.
Ex-Rangers midfielder Nicky Law has explained to the Daily Mail how Rangers’ Scottish Cup win against Celtic replaced his previous best career moment.
Law scored what turned out to be the winning penalty in the shootout that followed April’s 2-2 draw at Hampden Park, with the Bhoys’ Tom Rogic missing the next kick.
It was a feeling that Law suspects he will never be able to match, having left Rangers for Bradford City at the end of his Ibrox contract – and surpasses the memory of his first Premier League start for Sheffield United against Manchester United a decade ago.
“That was my greatest moment until last season when I was at Rangers and we had an Old Firm derby against Celtic in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup,” Law told the Daily Mail.
“I don’t think I’ll ever match the emotion of winning that game on a football field again. You’ll never forget it – the size of the game and the first time that Rangers had played Celtic on an even field for a few years.
“It was such a fierce game, the noise and then the emotion not just in the players but what you could see in the crowd as well, it was unbelievable.
“It was four years in the making for the Rangers fans to win their first game against their biggest rivals again. An amazing day and one which just meant so much to everyone.”
Since leaving Rangers, Law has helped Bradford to second in League One – under the guidance of former Ibrox boss Stuart McCall.
Incredibly, McCall has now signed the 28-year-old on four separate occasions – three times for the Bantams and once for Motherwell – having played with him at Sheffield United.
Law arrived at Rangers from Fir Park in 2013, upon the Light Blues’ promotion to the third tier. He played 122 times for the Glasgow giants in total, scoring 26 goals.
