Rangers are searching for a new manage following Mark Warburton’s exit.
Nicky Law celebrates
Former Rangers midfielder Nicky Law has told The Scottish Sun that the current squad at Ibrox are ‘in the dark’ about the club’s plans to appoint a new manager.
It’s been a turbulent month for Rangers, as it started with a thumping 4-1 defeat away at Hearts, and just over a week later, manager Mark Warburton left the club, with the Gers claiming he had resigned.
With assistant boss David Weir and recruitment chief Frank McParland also leaving the club, Rangers are in turmoil off the pitch, and fortunes aren’t much better on it, after successive 2-1 away defeats at Dundee and Inverness.
Rangers appear to be prioritising the appointment of a Director of Football right now, and are happy to leave interim boss Graeme Murty in charge, despite his lack of managerial experience and successive defeats.
It’s unclear whether Rangers will appoint a manager until the end of the season or appoint a long-term boss immediately, but a host of names have been linked with the job in recent weeks.
Many that have ties to Rangers, such as Alex McLeish, Billy Davies, Derek McInnes, Barry Ferguson and Frank de Boer, have been touted for the post so far, but no appointment has been made.
Now, former Rangers midfielder Nicky Law – who played a part in the club’s promotion last season – has told The Scottish Sun that he was impressed when working under Warburton, feeling that is a ‘good coach’.

Law, now at Bradford City under his former Rangers boss Stuart McCall, added that he has spoken to current Gers players about the managerial situation, and they are ‘in the dark’ as much as anybody else right now, as confusion continues at Ibrox.
“I was very impressed by Mark,” said Law. “I really enjoyed playing under him and I was as shocked as anyone when he left. He is a good manager and a good coach. I felt that I learned a lot under him, not only on matchdays but also in his training sessions, which were always good quality.”
“I spoke to a couple of the lads I know who are still there and they were as much in the dark as me about the whole thing. We will have to sit back and wait. It’s a very strange situation for a club of that size to find itself in,” he added.
