The former Rangers striker commented on his time at Ibrox and conversations with Mark Warburton.
Former Rangers striker Nicky Clark has been commenting on his Rangers career in an interview with the Herald this weekend.
The 25-year-old striker joined Rangers from Queen of the South in 2013 and helped the club to two promotions during his time at Ibrox.
He scored 24 goals in 107 appearances for the club but often found himself coming off the bench.
Rangers’ Nicky Clark scores their first goal
After promotion to the Scottish Premiership Clark decided he wanted to leave and joined Bury. He told the Herald about his Ibrox frustrations and conversations with Rangers boss Mark Warburton before he left the club:
“It is hard to come in to a game, try and play well and score and then be out of the team the following week. It is difficult to get a run going and build your confidence. At Rangers that was the thing that frustrated me the most. It was tough.
“I spoke to Mark a few times.
“There was little bit of chat about possibly staying for another year and seeing how it went. But I am 25 and have to be playing regularly.
“I will never regret the time I spent at Ibrox. It was an unbelievable experience. I was lucky enough to score a few goals, and a few important goals at that, and play in some big games.”
Rangers’ Nicky Clark (L) celebrates scoring their first goal
Clark is now back in Scottish football, and back scoring goals. He joined Dunfermline after just two months in England and has been in good form since heading north of the border again.
It never truly worked out for Clark at Rangers. He arrived on the back of a 41-goal season with Queen of the South but never managed such ferocious scoring at Ibrox.
Rangers fans will however not forget the fact he played a role in the club’s return to the top-flight.
