The ex-Arsenal and current Arsenal players took to social media after the Emirates Cup.
Calum Chambers celebrated on three fronts on Twitter on Sunday afternoon after Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Wolfsburg in the Emirates Cup.
Indeed, the 20-year-old was delighted with the win, clean sheet and subsequent trophy, describing it as ‘not a bad start’ to the season.
The north London side had thrashed Lyon 6-0 on Saturday afternoon and followed it up with a one-goal win over their German opponents thanks to Theo Walcott’s winner.
And Chambers celebrated with the following message to fans on social media:
Meanwhile, former Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner, who turned out for Wolfsburg, also tweeted, posting the full message on his official Instagram account:
‘My son blowing kisses to me on the pitch. Today was the first time he saw me play. Unfortunally he didn’t get to see a win this time. But it made me fell humble and honored to be recieved by the fans the way I did. Thank you for all the amazing times we had together.’
It was an emotional occasion for the Dane but one full of positives for his ex-club.
Several young players stood out for the Gunners over a memorable weekend for Arsene Wenger’s side, while Petr Cech also showed what he is all about in between the sticks.
Whether Arsenal sign those players many are calling for – a striker, central midfielder and, for some, a centre-back – between now and the end of the season remains to be seen but the north London side’s squad easily looks good enough for a top-four finish. It’s just a case of which of the four slots they take up next term.
