Celtic, Newcastle United, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County are just some of the clubs who are reportedly keen on Nick Powell.

Nick Powell first burst onto the scene at Manchester United, but the 2013 Premier League winner wasn’t able to fulfil what was expected of him at that time. But that could be changing.
TeamTalk are reporting that Newcastle United, Celtic and Derby County are just a number of clubs who have held talks with the midfielder, who is expected to join Stoke City when his contract at Wigan expires this month.
It is said that along with the interested parties Newcastle and Celtic, the likes of Brighton, Burnley, Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers are also keen on his services though it seems as though he will be moving to Championship side, Stoke.
If that is the case then the 25-year-old attacker would be making a mistake by not making a switch to either England’s top-flight with Newcastle or to the Scottish Premiership champions in Celtic.
A move to either club would take Powell’s game to the next level and put him back on track in fulfilling what was expected of him when he was a youngster.
Out of all the clubs who are reportedly interested in Powell, there is no doubt that Newcastle and Celtic are the biggest platforms and given the fact that the Old Trafford academy product would be a free transfer, they would gain more from his purchase than what they could potentially lose.

During the recently concluded season, Powell was instrumental in a defensive-minded Wigan side, who had just earned promotion from League One, in maintaining their status in the Championship.
He made 32 appearances for the Latics, scoring eight goals from the middle of the park and supplying his teammates with seven assists [transfermarkt].
Given Powell’s technical ability, eye for a goal and pass, he is too good to be playing in England’s second tier and he would be better off testing himself with the Scottish Champions or at St James’ Park.
