Nick Kyrgios has never shied away from sharing his views on tennis, and he’s never short of opinions.

Kyrgios’ return at the Australian Open in January was brief, as he continues to deal with a wrist injury that has bothered him for years.

He’s already spoken about the possibility of moving into coaching once his playing days are over. It’ll be interesting to see how things unfold for him in the coming years.

With no clear path back to the court right now, Kyrgios has found other ways to stay involved, like jumping into a recent debate between Zizou Bergs and Reilly Opelka.

Kyrgios weighs in as Opelka and Bergs trade shots

Reilly Opelka and Zizou Bergs aren’t exactly exchanging Christmas cards, and their recent back-and-forth on Instagram hasn’t helped matters.

Bergs is set to face Jannik Sinner later today after knocking out Alex Michelsen in the first round, celebrating with a moonwalk for good measure.

Opelka’s week in Paris was much shorter. Entering as a lucky loser, he fell to Corentin Moutet in three sets, ending his run before it really started.

The two then exchanged words online. Opelka said: “I’d rather lose 6-2 in the third than win 6-2 in the third and moonwalk.”

Bergs fired back: “I rather play than not play in Q’s,” taking a jab at Opelka’s need to go through qualifiers.

Kyrgios couldn’t resist adding his own take, siding with Opelka and suggesting Bergs should show more respect for what Opelka has accomplished.

Nick Kyrgios could make a decision about his future in 2026

He used a protected ranking to enter tournaments at the beginning of 2025, but he won’t have that option in 2026. A decision on what comes next is looming.

The Australian made it to the Wimbledon final in 2022, and if not for an unstoppable Novak Djokovic, he might have claimed that elusive Grand Slam title.

Kyrgios has struggled with injuries throughout his career, and it’s still unclear what he’s thinking about his future in the sport.

The ATP Tour always benefits from strong personalities like Kyrgios and Opelka, so if he chooses to stick around, it would be a boost for the game.

He still has plenty of support among fans. Now we just wait to see if he can overcome his injury issues and what direction his career takes next.
