Celtic kick off their Europa League group-stage campaign this week, and Charlie Nicholas wants to see Brendan Rodgers pick a front two.

The Bhoys go into the clash with the Norwegian side off the back of a disappointing goalless draw with St Mirren last Friday which saw Brendan Rodgers’ men struggle to create many notable chances.
The stalemate means that Celtic go into this week’s game at Parkhead having scored more than once in a single game just once in their last five outings. And Nicholas suggested that pairing his two senior strikers together may give Rodgers’ men the best chance of ending that underwhelming run.
“At the moment Celtic aren’t playing well, but at the same time they have already beaten Rosenborg in the qualifiers for the Champions League. Rosenborg had a half-decent result at the weekend as they beat Valerenga, while Celtic drew at St Mirren,” he told Sky Sports.

“Celtic aren’t making a lot of chances at the moment which is frustrating for a lot of people, none more so than Brendan Rodgers. Being a Celtic man, I would play Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths together and go after Rosenborg and pin them in.”
Edouard’s form in recent weeks has to be a concern for Rodgers. The Frenchman has not scored in his last four games, and some of the fans have been critical of his some of his performances this season.

Griffiths meanwhile, has hardly been prolific either. He has scored just two goals in 10 games in all competitions this term. But both men have the quality to turn their fortunes around emphatically – Edouard has already scored twice against Rosenborg this term.
And that 3-1 victory from July will surely be giving Rodgers’ men confidence as they look to get back to winning ways and kick off the group-stages in style.
