Moussa Dembele has been consistently linked with a move away from Celtic.
Former Celtic ace Charlie Nicholas has claimed in his Daily Express column that the Hoops should sell striker Moussa Dembele this month, if a bid of £20million is received for Celtic’s number 10.
The 21-year-old has been the shadow of the player he was last season, scoring just eight goals in 21 outings as injuries his hamper his progress with the Scottish champions.
It has seen him come in and out of the side with Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard both vying for a spot in Celtic’s starting eleven. Brighton had a bid of £18million rejected during the Christmas period.
Nicholas, who is a renowned pundit with Sky Sports, believes that Celtic should cash in on the former Fulham forward if they do receive a bid that Nicholas deems acceptable.
“I can’t see any of England’s big guns coming in for him, but if an offer of £20million was made then Celtic should accept it,” Nicholas said.
“Then Brendan will be able to delve back into the transfer market because he would need to sign a replacement striker to compete with Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard.
“And I think he needs to bring in a pacey central defender. They have signed Marvin Compper, but I’d like to see another join him.”
Dembele amassed a huge 32 goals last season for Celtic, drawing praise from all over Europe including Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane. AC Milan, Chelsea, Manchester United and West Ham have all been credited with an interest.
It remains to be seen if Dembele will leave the club this month, with two and a half years still on his current deal at Parkhead.
