Tom Carroll and Michel Vorm expressed their delight for Ben Davies on Instagram after he signed a new deal with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Wales international joined Spurs in 2014 from Swansea City and has now signed a contract until 2024 to make it a possible ten years with the north London club.

When the deal was announced, a number of his ex-teammates sent messages to Davies, including former keeper, Vorm, who posted in the comments section of the left-back’s IG post ‘congratulations mate’, whilst former midfielder, Tom Carroll, just simply wrote ‘nice you’ and Wayne Routledge added that it has been ‘some journey’.

DAVIES UNSUNG HERO UNDER CONTE

One of the big winners from Antonio Conte’s short, yet positive, reign at Tottenham, so far, has been Davies in defence.

A left-back by trade, the Italian hasn’t used him in that role, but in a back three as a left-sided centre-back, alongside Eric Dier and Cristian Romero.

Not just for Spurs, but for his country reaching the 2022 World Cup also, his performances have been outstanding and there’s no surprise that he has penned a new deal.

The 29-year-old’s ability to sense danger, sense when his teammates make mistakes and then recover for them has been pretty outstanding, alongside his ability to defend the box in a composed manner.

Going forward, it seems as though it’s a role Davies will continue to play because Conte has added Ivan Perisic to his squad and he will be playing that left wing-back role, alongside first-choice, Ryan Sessegnon.

Either way, the Welshman could argue that since being at the club, this is the best football he has produced and now it’s a case of taking it to another level ahead of the new campaign.

It’s a return to Champions League football for Spurs, as the fans, players and the whole club crave that all-important trophy.
