Moussa Sissoko has claimed on his Instagram story that Serge Aurier leaving Tottenham for Villarreal is a ‘nice move for him’.
Both players left Tottenham this summer – Sissoko made the short trip to Watford after his contract expired.
Whilst Aurier, who still had one-year left on his Spurs deal, agreed to rip up his contract and move to Spain.
He joined up with ex-Arsenal boss Unai Emery at Villarreal, who he worked with at PSG, and it’s a new dawn for the 28-year-old.
When Nuno Espirito Santo decided that the duo weren’t part of his long term plans, he let them go and then brought in fresher legs.
Emerson Royal was purchased from Barcelona, whilst teenager Pape Matar Sarr joined from Metz, but he was loaned straight back to the French club.
It’s refreshing a team that was stagnating for a long time now and replacing them with more long-term targets.
Aurier wasn’t the only one who moved to Spain because the North London club also swapped Erik Lamela for Bryan Gil.
Both Japhet Tanganga and Emerson have been deployed at right-back this season and the duo have had mixed results.
It’s the academy star that seems to be the more eye-catching and stable of the two, but there is still a long way to go for either player to really show what they are about.
