As Liverpool and Manchester City were trading blows at Anfield on Sunday evening, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was talking about how he was going to watch the game back and have a ‘nice dinner’ in front of him whilst doing so, as he told his press conference.

Arsenal beat Leeds United 1-0 at Elland Road to maintain their status at the top of the Premier League table – the game was delayed for 40 minutes because of a power outage.

As a result of that delay, it meant, by the time Leeds and Arsenal were in the dying minutes of their game, Liverpool and Man City were kicking off their 4:30 (UK time) heavyweight showdown.

So, by the time Arteta was conducting his interviews and his pressers, added with him getting back home, then he would have known the scoreline of Liverpool beating Man City 1-0, thanks to a second-half goal from Mohamed Salah.

The Reds have done him a favour because the Gunners are now four points clear at the top and their next game is a Sunday clash against Southampton in the Premier League.

Nonetheless, whilst the Liverpool v Man City game was going on, this is what Arteta said about watching it, which he is probably doing now, if he’s got home from Yorkshire that is.

“Yes, I will be watching,” said Arteta. “I will have some nice dinner in front of me. That was really intense and I need to bring everything down.”

WHAT WILL ARTETA BE THINKING?

For those challenging for the title, Man City are your biggest threat and will continue to be because they are the current champions and have won four out of the last five.

Now, the last team to stop that run was the Reds, and in recent years, they have been the only ones capable of pushing Pep Guardiola’s side to the wire.

And whilst the Reds have started their season in an indifferent manner, you can’t write them off because they are capable of going on stupid and crazy winning runs.

It wouldn’t be a surprise, if their 1-0 win against Man City, provides that platform, and if that’s the case, then that’s another team for Arteta to worry about, even if the gap is 12 points between the two, at this moment – Liverpool also have a game in hand.
