Everton were torn apart by the Blues at the weekend.

Niall Quinn has joked to Sky Sports that Everton’s Yannick Bolasie will need “counselling” if endures many more heavy defeats this season.

Everton were ripped to shreds by Chelsea last weekend and returned to Merseyside with a 5-0 reverse for their troubles.

None of the Toffees gave a great account of themselves, but this was also true for the 27-year-old, who cost a club-record £30 million in the summer.

Bolasie was rather wasteful in possession and struggled to get in the game, and although Quinn tells Sky Sports that he has been “decent” for the most part since joining Everton, the Irishman jokes that the Congolese winger will need therapy if he is subjected to similar results again.

He said: “Yannick Bolasie has looked decent at Everton though he’ll hope to have better days than he did on Saturday. If not he will need counselling.”

Bolasie has only netted once in 11 games for the Merseyside outfit this season, but his four assists, coupled with his excellent partnership with Romelu Lukaku, perhaps compensates for his lack of goals so far.

The former Crystal Palace bullet has never set up more than six goals in a Premier League campaign, but it is clear that he is benefiting from playing alongside a striker of Lukaku’s calibre.
