Former Sunderland player and manager Niall Quinn says he is hopeful Didier Ndong will be a good signing for the club.
N’dong became the club’s record signing on transfer deadline day, moving from French side Lorient for £13.6 million, The BBC reported.

Ndong is a Gabon international who the Black Cats have high hopes for, with the midfielder just 22-years-old.
Asked for his views on SkySports, Niall Quinns told the channel’s live deadline day coverage at 8pm, that he was optimistic Ndong could succeed, although expressed his opinion that he will have to make a fast start.
He said: “He could be very influential, but it could be difficult for a young player as it is not the easiest place in the world if you don’t hit the round running.
“If they see hes not putting the effort in they will be quick to let him know, but I’m assured that is one aspect of his game where they do not need to worry.”

Sunderland found it tricky to add players after suffering a series of setback in the lead up to deadline day, but acted quickly to tie up a deal for Ndong after missing out on Ryan Mason for a similar price a day earlier.
Quinn’s fellow SkySports pundit Paul Merson weighed in, admitting he was unconvinced over the club’s summer transfer business, which also saw them bring in Javier Manquillo, Steven Pienaar, and Papy Djilobodj.
He said: “It’s a big gamble. Sunderland’s signings could be a B+, but could be a D-.”
Sunderland have had a tough start to the season, sitting in 16th place with two losses and one draw from their opening three Premier League matches.
