Manchester United remain without a win on their pre-season tour, after their game against the San Jose Earthquakes ended as a stalemate.

Despite the arrival of Alexis Sanchez, whose visa issue was resolved on Sunday, United were underwhelming against a team who lost more games than they won in MLS last year.

It was not all doom and gloom for Jose Mourinho’s side, however, as there were some impressive performances from some of the younger players, particularly midfielder Andreas Pereira.

The 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Valencia, started in a midfield three alongside Ander Herrera and James Garner and outshone both players.

In a game where United often looked sluggish and struggled to build up attacking momentum, Pereira moved the ball quickly and was always looking to create something.

The Brazilian also looked strong and energetic defensively, working hard to press and win back the ball which should earn him favour with the Red Devils’ boss.

His performance has not gone unnoticed by United fans, who want to see him more regularly on the pitch this season.
