Manchester United slumped to a disappointing 0-0 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday and fans were particularly unimpressed with striker Anthony Martial.

There have been questions over the future of the Frenchman, who was not part of Didier Deschamp’s World Cup-winning side, all summer, with the Sun reporting that Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are the most likely destinations should he leave.

The 22-year-old struggled to hold down a first team spot last season, starting just 18 Premier League games and scoring nine league goals, leading to his agent telling the press the forward wanted to leave in June.

With the 12 United players who played in the World Cup absent from the pre-season tour to the US, Jose Mourinho announced earlier this month that Martial would likely lead the line for the start of the league season.

In the absence of Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford, and Jesse Lingard, the pre-season tour appeared the ideal time for the French forward to stake his claim for the upcoming season and get his United career back on track.

Following a decent performance in the pre-season opener against Club America, in which he was key in the majority of his side’s attacking play, Martial looked uninterested and poor against San Jose.

Such was the quality of his performance that some United fans appear to have lost patience with the Frenchman completely.
