The 32-year-old was sent off in last season’s derby after clashing with then-Aston Villa defender John Terry.
Former Birmingham City midfielder Cheikh Ndoye has alleged that John Terry purposefully got him sent off in last season’s derby at Villa Park.
Villa won the Championship clash 2-0, with goals from Albert Adomah and Conor Hourihane, and the Senegalese received his marching orders in the 94th minute after being shown a second yellow card for a clash with Terry, which resulted in Ndoye grabbing the 37-year-old’s neck.
The 32-year-old left the Blues at the end of the season, joining Ligue 1 side SCO Angers. But he clearly hasn’t forgotten about the tussle and, in a recent interview with French site L’Equipe, he accused Terry and Villa of trying to get him sent off.
“It never happened to me in France. It happened to me in England, so I’m sorry,” said Ndoye. “He insulted me and caught me first. In fact, it was a stunt. They did it on purpose.”
“I was stuck, I wanted him to let go, he did not want to let go, and I grabbed him by the neck. I took a second yellow card and he (escaped with) nothing.”
The incident only served to increase Terry’s popularity with home fans, with the former England international becoming a fan favourite at Villa Park last season.
Ndoye’s complaints about his red card have not gone unnoticed by Villa fans, who unsurprisingly have a different view of the situation, with some even taking to Twitter to mock the ex-Blues man and express their disbelief.
