The hotly tipped 19-year-old has made just one appearance for Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Marcus Edwards has joined Eredivisie side SBV Excelsior on a season-long loan and fans are hoping the move abroad can help get the 19-year-old’s career back on track.
A highly rated prospect, Edwards has failed to push himself into the first team squad at Spurs and has played just 15 minutes of senior football for the London side, a substitute appearance against Gillingham in the Carabao Cup in 2016.
The forward was sent out on loan to Norwich City in January but it proved a disastrous few months for both player and club–Edwards made just one appearance for the Canaries and returned early from the move in April.
An extremely technically talented playmaker once dubbed the “mini Messi” by Mauricio Pochettino, the Englishman can play either on the right wing or in attacking midfield.

Questions have been raised about Edwards’ attitude, both by Pochettino and at Norwich, where he reportedly failed to turn up for a training session on time once, so a move could be the ideal step to help him get his mind right and kick-start his career.
Tottenham fans are clearly keen to see Edwards fulfill his talent at Spurs and some voiced their words of encouragement on Twitter.
