Mendes transfer policy was a vital part of Wolves’ success last season.

Portuguese football manager Jorge Mendes stands in front of the press during the release of the book 'The Special Agent' written by Miguel Cuesta and Jonathan Sanchez in Lisbon on February...

Aston Villa are reportedly using the services of super agent Jorge Mendes to help with their transfer dealings and some of their fans appear on board with the news.

Birmingham Live has reported that Mendes is one of a number of agents that new owners Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris have enlisted the help of as they look to bring in reinforcements now their transfer embargo has been lifted.

According to the report, manager Steve Bruce will have the final say on any transfers.

Mendes is a controversial figure due to his close working relationship with Wolverhampton Wanderers, having helped the club with their transfer dealings ahead of their 2017/18 Championship winning season and this summer.

Acting as an adviser to Wolves owners Fosun, the agent has helped bring a number players from his agency Gestifute to Molineaux, including star midfielder Ruben Neves and Euro 2016 winners Joao Moutinho and Rui Patricio.

Wolves success appears to have inspired other clubs with Nottingham Forest and now Villa enlisting Mendes’ services this summer.

New signing Andre Moreira of Aston Villa poses for a picture at the club's training ground at Bodymoor Heath on August 01, 2018 in Birmingham, England.

The Portuguese appears to have worked some of his magic already, with goalkeeper Andre Moreira, a client of Gestifute, signing on loan from Atletico Madrid.

The claret and blues reaching out to Mendes comes as a bit of a surprise as back in March they were one of a number of clubs that called for an inquiry into his involvement at Wolves.

Villa fans were quick to criticise their Midland rivals for their use of Mendes but some of their fans now appear to support their club’s use of the agent.
