The Brazilian joined Manchester United from Shakhtar Donetsk for £52 million earlier this summer.

Manchester United concluded their US pre-season tour with a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid and some fans were excited to see new signing Fred make his starting debut.
After a disappointing pre-season, goals from Alexis Sanchez and Ander Herrera helped Jose Mourinho’s side pick up their first win inside 90 minutes on the tour.
The United boss gave Fred, who joined from Shakhtar Donetsk for £52 million in June, his first start alongside Andreas Pereira in a deep-lying midfield with Herrera in a more advanced role.
It remains to be seen what sort of role Pereira, who has been one of the highlights of United’s pre-season, will be given by Mourinho this season but Fred looks a smart addition to the side and should compliment Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic well.
It is clear to see why Mourinho brought the 25-year-old to Old Trafford: defensively he is energetic and hard-working, while he is calm in possession and looks after the ball well.

Last season United were often sluggish going forward and the Brazil international’s high-tempo style of play should help give them a fresh attacking emphasis in the upcoming season.
Following a summer which has disappointed many United fans, mostly due to the lack of attacking reinforcements and the ongoing Anthony Martial saga, some of the Old Trafford faithful clearly enjoyed seeing Fred in action.
