Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong are two of Manchester United’s most promising academy players.

It seems likely that Anthony Martial will leave Manchester United before the end of the summer transfer window, which may present an opportunity for youngsters like Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong.
Last week Martial’s agent revealed the 22-year-old wanted to leave the club and the Metro has reported that United have set a £100 million price tag for the striker, with Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal rumoured to be interested.
An exit, while disappointing for United fans, may have a silver lining and give an opportunity for some promising youngsters to develop.
Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes are two of the most exciting talents coming out of the United academy and the departure of Martial may mean some first-team minutes for the next generation.

Chong is the more natural replacement for Martial, a left-footed winger who can play on the right or the left and has a similar fearlessness when taking on opposition players.
The 18-year-old Dutchman also boasts an industrious work rate and a knack for getting himself into goal-scoring opportunities; useful attributes for a youngster trying to break into the first-team.

Gomes is an attacking midfielder who is most comfortable in the number 10 role. He is excellent with the ball at his feet and can move the it well.
The Englishman is an intelligent play-maker with an eye for a goal and has strong leadership credentials, having captained the England under-16s and under-17s.
The two young players, both previous winners of the Jimmy Murphy Youth Team Player of the Year award, have been earmarked to feature in United’s pre-season tour and it could be the platform they need to impress their manager Jose Mourinho.
