Last week had some disappointments, but there were bonanzas for those who held faith in Suarez, Torres and Bale. This week there are some tasty looking home fixtures that could yield huge points.
Fixtures Analysis: First up Chelsea have a delicious looking home game against Norwich. Having netted four times against Nordsjaelland the Blues may be in the scoring mood for Saturday. Spurs also have a nice looking home game against the inconsistent Villa on Sunday, whilst QPR travel to high-flying West Brom. Swansea have a chance to regain some form at home to porous Reading. Liverpool have a good run of fixtures coming, and could do well at home to Stoke. Finally, free-scoring Everton travel to Wigan, who could give them plenty of opportunities to continue their fantastic form.
Transfers in: With Chelsea’s game against Norwich, it looks necessary to have at the very least one of Mata (8.8), Torres (9.9) and Hazard (10.3) in your side. You may well need to get two just in case Chelsea run riot. Mata has come back into form recently, and it may worth snapping him up now before his price gets too high. With regards to Spurs options, Gareth Bale (9.4) is always worthy of a place in your midfield, even when he’s not on form he takes plenty of shots and is good candidate for bonus points. Jermain Defoe (7.8) is good value too, and if Vertonghen (6.4) continues at left back he can provide points at both end of the pitch, having scored in both his last two games.
From West Brom, McAuley (5.4) is a good man to have in defence, with QPR struggling for goals. Shane Long (6.0) is starting to come to life in the absence of Odemwingie, and may give a budget option up front. From Liverpool, Suarez (9.4) is the main man. He’s not overly expensive, and it’s difficult to see Liverpool scoring many goals without him involved. Swansea have been terrible recently, but the visit of Reading may give them the chance to changes their fortunes. They have a few attacking midfielders worth looking at, but Michu (7.3) is probably the most threatening. From Everton the usual suspects of Pienaar (6.8) and Fellaini (7.3) should be settled in plenty of teams, and the return of Jelavic (8.4) gives an excellent striking option.
Selection doubts: Berbatov is racing (languidly, no doubt) to be fit for the weekend and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Bulgarian only make the bench if he features at all. Adebayor is reportedly closing in on full fitness, and make also make the bench this weekend. West Brom have a clutch of injuries, with Brunt probably the most likely to affect fantasy teams. Bassong should play for Norwich at Stamford Bridge. For those who have never given up belief, Joe Cole could be back in action this weekend.
Captain choice: There are more options than ever this week, but any of the three Chelsea players Mata, Torres and Hazard is probably the best bet. I would recommend Torres if you’re leading your league, Mata if playing catch-up.
