Villa have made just one defensive addition so far this summer.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce reportedly does not consider signing more defenders a priority, leaving some Villa fans outraged.
According to Birmingham Live, the club are unlikely to bring in a new centre-back before the loan window closes on August 31st, as Bruce’s main focus is on signing a striker on loan, with Tammy Abraham the main target.
The report also states that though the Villa manager had hoped to add a new left-back this summer, he will not sign anyone just to boost the numbers.
After a slow start to the summer in the transfer market due to financial struggles, Villa have been busy in the loan market, signing Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe, Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Andre Moreira, and Lille winger Anwar El Ghazi.
The arrival of Everton winger Yannick Bolasie is reportedly imminent, while Chelsea striker Abraham is also reportedly close to joining the club.

Clearly, much of Bruce’s concentration this summer has been on improving his firepower in the final third, which may have left him slightly short of quality in defensive areas.
At left-back Villa have only 33-year-old Alan Hutton and 29-year-old Neil Taylor to choose from, both of whom do not offer a great deal going forward.
Despite the addition of Tuanzebe, midfielder Mile Jedinak has started Villa’s last three league games at centre-back and Villa fans appear worried that Bruce has not strengthened enough at the back.
