A round-up of news and views relating toe Chelsea over the past 24 hours.

Jose Mourinho has reportedly told David Luiz he needs to become more disciplined if he is to play a role in his Chelsea side, with the manager worried the Brazilian’s erratic play is costing the side defensively. Barcelona are apparently interested in signing the defender, who is valued at around £25million.

Ricardo Carvalho has said that Mourinho has made the right move in returning to Chelsea, and backed the Portuguese manager to improve the Blues’ consistency in the Premier league. Carvalho also acknowledged that Mourinho had had a difficult time at Real Madrid last season, suggesting Chelsea were a better fit for the manager.

Chelsea youngster Lucas Piazon has suggested he would be willing to go out on loan to another Premier League club next year, having enjoyed a successful spell at Malaga in the second half of last season. The 19-year-old is not expected to feature in Chelsea’s first team, and could be farmed out on loan to gain more experience of English football.

Barcelona are reportedly considering a £20million bid for Chelsea striker Fernando Torres this summer. Although Torres improved towards the end of last season, he has still never found his best form at Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea might be prepared to sell him at a considerable loss on the £50million they paid for him in January 2011.

Netherlands manager Louis Van Gaal has urged Wesley Sneijder to move to Chelsea this summer, suggesting that the switch would improve the playmaker’s chances of a place in his starting team at next summer’s World Cup. Galatasaray are apparently happy to let Sneijder leave for £12.75million despite only signing him in January.

On HITC today we have a video of Juan Mata scoring for Spain last night, long with analysis of why Mourinho might be keen to sell David Luiz. We also ask if Chelsea really are going to keep Torres this summer.

Chelsea and Manchester City have been encouraged in their pursuit of Edinson Cavani, after the striker said he was not sure if Spanish football would suit him. Real Madrid are expected to rival the Premier League pair for Cavani once they have appointed a new manager.
