22-year-old Remy Cabella is reportedly on the radar for both English giants, with the attacking midfielder impressing at Montpellier this season.

Having signed Olivier Giroud from Montpellier in the summer, Arsenal may be set to raid the French league champions once again in January, this time for Remy Cabella.

However they will likely face stiff competition for the young midfielder from Manchester United, who are also reportedly tacking Cabella despite the plethora of attacking options they already have at the club.

Playing in a Montpellier side that has struggled without Giroud in the league this season, Cabella has already picked up four goals and four assists, and he has also played every match of the French side’s Champions League campaign.

Arsenal will have seen plenty of the player, having played Montpellier twice in the competition with Cabella particularly impressive in the first match between the pair, despite his side slipping to a 2-1 loss.

There is speculation Cabella is on the brink of a first call up to the French national team, with their next match coming in February next year. Arsenal and Manchester United may wish to swoop for the player before then, with the extra attention of an international cap likely to increase both the competition and the price tag for the player.

Currently Cabella is valued at around £5 million, though the Montpellier President has warned it would take a huge offer for the club to let Cabella leave.

The 22 year old is a skilful player on the ball who can play in any position across a front three, though he has generally started in the centre or on the right this season. Arsenal may currently be favourites for his signature, given their previous dealings with Montpellier and Wenger’s influence in French football.

Cabella may also fancy his chances of a starting place to be greater at Arsenal, though he would probably start by operating on the flank for Wenger’s side.

With Montpellier knocked out of European football, and struggling in the league, there may be a chance that Cabella will move in January. Cabella has developed into a superb player over the past couple of seasons, and still looks to be getting better.

With his Champions League experience this season, and an international call-up around the corner, Cabella may be about to become one of the stars of European football, and Arsenal and Manchester United might see this January as a good chance to sign him before the competition gets too fierce.
