Chelsea fans were excited after news broke that N’Golo Kante could be making a return to Stamford Bridge this month.

Meanwhile, Liam Rosenior is back to square one in his search for midfield reinforcements after missing out on Douglas Luiz, who has agreed a move to Aston Villa.

Ruben Neves and Elliot Anderson have both been linked to Chelsea in recent weeks, but those rumours have gone quiet lately.

N’Golo Kante remains the name that stands out for Chelsea fans.

Chelsea are reportedly considering the Frenchman as a potential midfield target. However, any deal would be contingent upon the financial terms or the type of agreement reached.

Fenerbahce’s interest in N’Golo Kante and his contract demands

N’Golo Kante is not short of options, with Fenerbahce also keen to bring him in.

According to a report from Fotomac, Fenerbahce are preparing one final approach for the 34-year-old, who is said to be open to a move to Turkey.

Kante is reportedly looking for a three-year contract and wants wages around 10 million Euros (£8.6 million).

That could be an issue for Chelsea, who would prefer a short-term loan rather than taking on a long-term deal.

Kante might be looking for something more permanent at this stage of his career, but what Chelsea really need is a short-term fix.

Chelsea rate both Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo, but their injuries have left Liam Rosenior searching for reinforcements in midfield.

Douglas Luiz was only ever seen as a stopgap until the end of the season, which says a lot about Chelsea’s current approach to recruitment.

Given the club’s shift toward younger players, it feels unlikely Kante will return unless he adjusts his expectations specifically for a move back to Stamford Bridge.
